A panther tattoo showcases this proud predator that is sacred and symbolic to so many cultures around the world. In North America the panther is a fierce hunter that is capable of taking down prey many times it’s size. It’s also one of the few predatory animals that will hunt on land, in trees or in the water. In South and Central America the panther figures prominently in their mythology. It occurs in the art and religion of all pre-Colombian American civilizations and was considered a familiar and a companion of Shamans among the Mayans and Aztecs . It is an extraordinarily ancient and powerful totem animal and was a symbol of the nobility and the authority of royal families. The fur, claws and teeth of the panther were often used to adorn and decorate the costumes of the highest ranking individuals. Mystery, mysticism and magic have been especially attributed to the black panther. Its sheer blackness suggests the night, the moon, primal darkness, and the energies that emerge from the depths. In art and legend, a beautiful and courageous woman is symbolized by the black panther. As you can see getting a panther tattoo is more then just a statement on personal strength and power, but is also a design that can be shrouded in symbolism and mystery. I have seen many black panther tattoos but I must admit that this has to be the first blue one that I have ever seen.

You don’t often see panther tattoos like this one. And it’s almost hard to explain what I am looking at here. This image is kind of looking at a panther while on acid. It is wildly tricked out and crazy looking but really, really cool at the same time. Almost like some sort of conceptual, armor-covered panther ready to do battle, like something one would expect to see in a big budget movie. I suppose one could say it has a tribal influence to it and while I can see that in the artwork, I am not at all certain that is its single influence. The conceptual artist who first drew this thing is a wild man, or wild woman, and the person who has this certainly has themselves one very unique tattoo.
As a fan of panther tattoos and many other types of tattoos, I would love to see some books of all the designs by this same artist. I would think they would be extremely interesting to look at. It is highly unlikely that this is the only good piece of art this person came up with. The person who did this must have hundreds or even thousands of wild looking drawings. And I am sure they go far beyond the realm of panther tattoos.
