Skull Tattoo Designs
When most people think about a skull tattoo design, they think about adding a skull or maybe even a set of crossbones to it. And that’s pretty much the extent of it. But, I’m telling you right now that there are way more options for you to consider. You could blend the skull tattoo design with your favorite animals, such as a wolf’s body with the head of a skull or a crow carrying a skull in it’s claws. Or you can add in your favorite astrological or mythological elements such as fairies, unicorns or even the head of a ram if your an Aries. I bet you haven’t considered adding a tribal or dragon motif to your skull tattoo design have you? Another possibility is to take a favorite story into account and have it inked into your skin. Take the story of the headless horseman for example. As you can see you are only limited by the extent of your imagination. So, if your planning on getting a skull tattoo design try mixing it up a little bit. You may just surprise yourself and come up with a design that is beautiful and impressive at the same time.

So, you want to get a skull tattoo design? Well, there are most certainly a lot of options available to you. Whether you want a skull tattoo design that is scary, like the one in the picture or your looking for one that’s a little more light hearted you have a ton of different flash to choose from. You can decide to make it bold and colorful or you can do a simple black and white design. If you want a skull tattoo design that really stands out then commission a tattoo artist to make one for you. That way you can customize with a variety of different elements and make it more personal. An example would be to add a tribal motif to the design. Or maybe your favorite animal. And you can even take it further. I once saw a guy with a skull tattoo design that was incorporated into a full sleeve running down the entire length of his arm. It was part of an entire horror motif that he had his favorite artist design. It was pretty cool and contained other things such as zombies, bats, snakes and even a Jack O Lantern. It just goes to show you what can be done with a little thought and imagination.

Panther Tattoos
A panther tattoo showcases this proud predator that is sacred and symbolic to so many cultures around the world. In North America the panther is a fierce hunter that is capable of taking down prey many times it’s size. It’s also one of the few predatory animals that will hunt on land, in trees or in the water. In South and Central America the panther figures prominently in their mythology. It occurs in the art and religion of all pre-Colombian American civilizations and was considered a familiar and a companion of Shamans among the Mayans and Aztecs . It is an extraordinarily ancient and powerful totem animal and was a symbol of the nobility and the authority of royal families. The fur, claws and teeth of the panther were often used to adorn and decorate the costumes of the highest ranking individuals. Mystery, mysticism and magic have been especially attributed to the black panther. Its sheer blackness suggests the night, the moon, primal darkness, and the energies that emerge from the depths. In art and legend, a beautiful and courageous woman is symbolized by the black panther. As you can see getting a panther tattoo is more then just a statement on personal strength and power, but is also a design that can be shrouded in symbolism and mystery. I have seen many black panther tattoos but I must admit that this has to be the first blue one that I have ever seen.

You don’t often see panther tattoos like this one. And it’s almost hard to explain what I am looking at here. This image is kind of looking at a panther while on acid. It is wildly tricked out and crazy looking but really, really cool at the same time. Almost like some sort of conceptual, armor-covered panther ready to do battle, like something one would expect to see in a big budget movie. I suppose one could say it has a tribal influence to it and while I can see that in the artwork, I am not at all certain that is its single influence. The conceptual artist who first drew this thing is a wild man, or wild woman, and the person who has this certainly has themselves one very unique tattoo.

As a fan of panther tattoos and many other types of tattoos, I would love to see some books of all the designs by this same artist. I would think they would be extremely interesting to look at. It is highly unlikely that this is the only good piece of art this person came up with. The person who did this must have hundreds or even thousands of wild looking drawings. And I am sure they go far beyond the realm of panther tattoos.

Dove Tattoo
This person has a simple dove tattoo with the word faith below it. I like this tattoo because it manages to say a lot in a very simple way. And what it is saying is that this person is a person that knows they need to have faith and they do. They know they must believe in things to have any chance of those things happening. This is a glass half full person and they always will be. It is simply against their nature to see the negative rather than the positive in any given situation. Some times that can be a very difficult road to navigate in life but if one sticks to their guns and rides the tough times out, they almost always come our better for it in the end. Would you have seen all that in a simple dove tattoo like this one? I knew this is what it stood for because I know that the dove is a symbol of hope and of new beginnings and the dove carrying the olive branch confirms that as well. For anyone that wants just a plain dove tattoo that makes a strong statement this one is a good choice.

Dove Tattoo
Dove Tattoo
I have seen the dove tattoo as a silhouette, and as a full layout tattoo. No matter what, they always look good. The dove stands for love and togetherness, and this dove tattoo shows exactly that. Two doves touching beaks in mid flight, brings love into the air just thinking about it. I know women go crazy about doves, they love the birds and everything about what they stand for. A lot of ladies will get a dove tattoo on their wrists or on their thighs, they think it makes them more loving I think. This dove tattoo could use a little color added to it in my honest opinion. Even though I still like it, it just seems to be missing something from the way I look at it. I would like to design a dove tattoo that had maybe two adult doves along with a couple dove chicks, all flying together into the setting sun. I think that would make for an awesome design, especially with the chicks added in. I have always like most birds, and doves are just one of many I utilize in some of the design work I have done over the years. Overall I rate this tattoo high for it’s simplicity.

Pisces Tattoos
Pisces Tattoos
Pisces tattoo designs are quite flexible in that the universal symbol of this sun sign is two fish. These fish, called Ichtyes by the Greeks, are commonly represented in a yin yang style – each fish head followed by the other’s tail forming a circular shape. Besides fish, there are numerous other sea creatures that can be incorporated into Pisces tattoos to create a more personalized design: twin dolphins, whales, sharks, sea horses or mermaids for example. Pisces tattoos commonly include this zodiac’s glyph symbol. Mirroring the double fish pattern, the Pisces glyph has an "H" shape in which the two vertical lines bend toward each other in the middle while bowing out at the tops and bottoms. The simplicity of this symbol lends itself to limitless design possibilities. For example, women seeking more feminine Pisces tattoos may choose designs featuring roses intertwined with the glyph while men may prefer snakes slithering up the glyph. The Pisces zodiac is a water sign that reveals a dreamy, gentle, affectionate, compassionate and deep nature. However, Pisces individuals are noted as having dual, or split, personalities: silent then highly talkative, happy then very unhappy, lazy then highly motivated. If this sounds like you then go ahead and get the design inked.

Pisces Tattoos
Pisces Tattoos
Here’s some rather decent nice looking samples of pisces tattoos with a couple of nearly identical little fish who are swimming in a circle as if chasing each others tales. As in the never ending cycle of life and death which is what they represent of course. They also say that a person who is born under the pisces sign is imaginative and sensitive. Compassionate and kind. Selfless and unworldly and intuitive and sympathetic. Wow that’s a mouthful. And it seems to be a whole of things at once for any one person.

So if you are a pisces and you are interested in possibly getting your astrological sign as a tattoo there are many, many tattoos one can choose from. Some are exact representations of the whatever the sign is and some are simply artistic take offs on what they are suppose to be. In other words, ones drawn that may look different but mean the very same thing. So you see, not all pisces tattoos are created equal. They all do not have to be fish even though that is the first thing someone thinks of. A good artist will have two other objects acting exactly like the fish.

Tattoo Pictures
Sometimes tattoo pictures really are all about the pictures. It really only takes looking at this one for a few moments to understand that it is a living monument to this man’s father who has obviously passed on. And no doubt his father probably once had this same old car that he has painted here on his shoulder, or one very similar to it. Both above and below this tattoo, other parts of tattoos can be seen so this guy probably has a lot of ink on him but I am glad to see that he took such a prominent spot to make this dedication for his father. There is no more sincere of a thing that he could have done. A good example of tattoo pictures.

This reminds me of my brothers first tattoo. It was a design with the name and birthday of his first child, and just like when somebody dies, it’s the kind of tattoo that you will never regret unless you are going to regret your first child or in this case your dad. And we all know that is not going to happen. We might get mad at them, but never will we completely break things off with them emotionally. Sometimes tattoo pictures can talk.

When it comes to tattoo pictures of my favorite is of the butterfly. And I especially like the way this one was done with the shadow of the butterfly on the skin beneath it. It really goes a long way in making this butterfly look real. Like this person really has a butterfly landing on their arm. A butterfly as a tattoo has many meanings from many different cultures that it can stand for. One is love, then there is luck, freedom, a persons soul, even a grandmother. For me it would be two things. Change and freedom. Change because the butterfly comes from the caterpillar and of course freedom because of its ability to fly away any time it seems fit. I suppose I would throw frailty into the mix as well, because butterflies have always seemed to be a very frail creature to me.

This is a nice tattoo that looks very realistic and while I think it could have used just a little less of the blacks and dark colors I do not think there is anything wrong with it at all. It is a nice small piece of artwork and the person that has it should be very proud of it.

Lion Tattoos
The lion tattoo is often a beautiful and contradictory symbol in tattooing today. These creatures embody pride, strength, nobility and loyalty. Yet, at the same time they can be symbols of savagery, fear and are sometimes depicted as being vain. The Lion was often used as a symbol of Royalty, as in many cultures it was considered the "King of the Beasts". In early Christianity, as Jesus was seen to be the "King of Kings", he was often represented by a Lion, and a Lion was the symbol of St. Mark. The Lion is mentioned many times in the Bible and the time when a Lion lays with a Lamb is seen as the dawning of a New Age. In African cultures the Lion was a powerful symbol in many Creation Myths, as both Creator and Destructor, and in some cultures the Lion figured prominently in rites of passages to becoming a man and full-fledged warrior. To kill a lion single-handedly was the height of prowess for a hunter. But in many African fables the Lion is often depicted as a vain, arrogant creature who is often out-witted by smaller more clever creatures. So, as you can clearly see the lion tattoo has many different meanings to different people.

Lion Tattoos
Lion Tattoos
Very few things in history have stood for as much as the lion when it comes to tattoos, or any other sort of thing. At one time or another the lion has been worshipped and revered by many of the peoples throughout this world. Firstly is the obvious. When you see lion tattoos you think of speed, agility, the king of the beasts and all of that good stuff. Including of course the lion as the astrological symbol of Leo and as such represents the sun.

The lion tattoos also stand for power and courage and everybody likes to be thought of as these things so that could be one reason why lion tattoos are so popular. This particular picture of a lion tattoo is a nice one. It’s a lion who seems to be sitting in contentment as it looks out over it’s domain, knowing it has nothing out there to fear. But just like it sits there content we can see in its eyes that this cat is not to messed with in any way, shape or form. The best advice would be to walk around and give it a wide birth. Maybe that’s what people with lion tattoos are saying to others. Leave me alone and you’ll be better off.

Music Tattoo
This music tattoo design is the first sketch of what’s bound to become a great tattoo. I like how the design has a three dimensional effect. When it’s inked into someone’s skin, it’s going to look fantastic. Especially if the artist adds a lot of color and shading. I can really imagine getting something like this, but there are other types of designs. Music tattoos come in several different variations. Everything from band logos, music notes, lyrics, and musical instruments to song lyrics and sheets of music. Some music tattoos will depict a person, or figure playing an instrument of the wearer’s choice. These are often seen with a person’s favorite musician – guitarists and classical musicians being the most popular examples of this style. Tattoos, like music, are an art form. And as we are prone to listen to certain songs over and over because of the way they make us feel, we may also feel compelled to get a tattoo to express the very same emotion. It just seems natural to mix these two compelling art forms to convey our deepest feelings. All you have to do is imagine the possibilities and your next great tattoo can become a reality.

Music Tattoo
Music Tattoo
This music tattoo is that of a nautical star surrounded by musical notes. And that makes me think all sorts of things. Perhaps is it meant to symbolize the song one hears in their own heart when they have been away at sea and away from their loved ones for too long and now the time for them to meet once again is very near. As if their ship has just rounded the horn and they can see the harbor and the life they have longed for since they have been gone. Or it could be the loved one watching the same from the harbor and the music they feel inside themselves when they see their loved one’s ship finally returning safely home to them. There’s lots of things this music tattoo could mean.

Yeah, that’s all a bit soapy for a music tattoo, I know. But I think it’s a nice soapy. Nothing wrong with feelings of love. And there’s not a better reason to get a tattoo either. After all, at the end of the day we are nothing without love in our lives. Everyone needs to love and be loved. It is simply part of the human condition. Perhaps the most important part.

Koi Fish Tattoos

Koi Fish Tattoos
Koi Fish Tattoos
I really love this Koi fish tattoo. It mixes dark shades of blue with lighter shades of blue. I have seen many Koi fish tattoos but they are usually red, orange or yellow. Occasionally you’ll see one that is a light blue, but even that is pretty unusual. And you see very few, if any, which are in the darker shades of the color spectrum. I think that makes it even more unique of a design. Koi fish tattoos are as varied and as popular as the animal they represent. Koi tattoo designs are often combined with splashing water, cherry blossom and lotus flowers. Koi fish are a type of carp that the Japanese have bred over many generations to produce the brilliantly colored ornamental fish that we know today. The symbolism behind the Koi tattoo is generally thought to be one of luck and/or good fortune.. Interestingly, the Japanese assign different symbolic meanings to the fish depending upon the way it behaves, either in the pond or in the wild. The Chinese, on the other hand, have a very special interpretation of koi fish in general. The Chinese koi is also associated with life-long good fortune. A koi tattoo will bring you wealth and abundance according to many different Asian sources.

Koi Fish Tattoos
Koi Fish Tattoos
This Koi fish tattoo is unlike any I have seen before it. Usually when you see a Koi fish tattoo it’s brightly colored. I have seen them done in shades of gold, blue, green, red, violet and orange. But, I don’t ever remember seeing a Koi fish tattoo done in black and white! I mean you just don’t see them done like that. And I’m not sure it’s a design that would go over well with traditionalist. The Japanese have spent thousands of years breeding these fish to produce many different brightly colored fish. And with one fell swoop of the tattoo gun this bearer has transformed the fish from the gem of ornamental ponds to just your ordinary fish! To tell you the truth, this Koi fish tattoo may as well be a bass or a catfish. Once they decided to do this fish in monotone then they have taken away the most defining characteristic of this majestic little carp. But, tattooing is about individuality and so, I have to give the bearer the proper respect he deserves. After all, it’s a bold move. But, at least they made a gutsy move to try something unique instead of just doing what everyone else has. I’ll give them credit for that.

Sparrow Tattoo
The sparrow tattoo is a design that can easily be incorporated into either a males or females tattoo, all it takes is a little alteration. The sparrow tattoo could get slightly altered, depending on whether it is a man or woman who is getting the tattoo. If people are looking to get a tattoo, they may be thinking of getting a small tattoo and the sparrow tattoo is just a small tattoo design, but at the same time have a lot of detail. The tattoo artist of today have the ability to make every last detail show in the sparrow tattoo. The small tattoos like the sparrow tattoo look especially nice when they get them on the ankles. Looking for the right sparrow tattoo design is very easy today. There are many places that have sparrow designs and patterns. You should even look in the category of small tattoo patterns. And what is the meaning of the sparrow tattoo? Well, it depends on who you talk to but generally sparrow tattoos represent freedom. This is another reason for the popularity of the tattoo. If a person has had a hard time or period in their lives, this could be a bad relationship, they might get the sparrow tattoo to show their new independence. When people get the sparrow tattoo, they usually add more to the design than just having a plain sparrow.

Sparrow Tattoo
Sparrow Tattoo
It seems that first and foremost, sparrow tattoos were originally popular with sailors. Life on the high seas was brutally rough in days gone by, and a lot of sailors that put out to sea never returned. Whether they succumbed to storms, rough waves or other sailors, it was considered a badge of honor just to make it back to port. Enter sparrow tattoos. It became a tradition for a sailor to get one sparrow tat for every 5,000 nautical miles of travel. Sparrows were also believed to bring a sailor good luck, so sometimes a seaman would get his tat before heading out in the hopes it would act as a talisman, and help bring him safely home again. Sparrows in nautical themes are often depicted with stars, perhaps as a symbol of following one’s destiny. Sparrow tattoos also have their place in prison culture, where the birds symbolize freedom. Certainly everyone with a sparrow tat isn’t a convict, but some convicts choose sparrows as a statement about their own freedom, especially when they are nearing release. These tattoos are typically worn somewhere on the hands, wrists or arms, but they can really be placed anywhere.

Tattoos Of Stars
Tattoos Of Stars
Tattoos of stars are generally connected with masculine groups but the powerful emotions of strength and unity are also very strong among lesbians who have now also adopted the star tattoo and tailored the design to their identity. The most commonly used tattoos of stars are the 4 and 5 pointed designs, but also Moon and Star designs are also popular and can look more feminine than the nautical star. The increasing number of people who are having individual star tattoo designs is down to the fact that it us such a versatile shape that can be adapted and incorporated into many ideas. Many people have small ones done in discreet areas like on the wrist which can be hidden by a watch or bracelet. They are also great for covering up an old tattoo that was maybe done badly. Another great idea is to incorporate it into an existing design to enhance or add detail. Other groups that use the star are the occult or people that practice witchcraft. They use the Pentacle star design which has 5 points and is taken from the Greek word Pentegrammos which means 5 lines. The lines suggest a link to the devil at the points where the lines cross.

Tattoos Of Stars
Tattoos Of Stars
Here we have some simple tattoos of stars on a persons arm. Very plain and not very flashy but to the person who gets them it says just enough. The stars are all about that person reaching out to strive for bettering themselves and be the best that one can be in whatever one does. That is always a good thing so having tattoos of stars on ones person can never be a negative thing. It is certainly non-offensive and it is hard to imagine that it would turn anybody off. I would think at the very worst, this persons tattoos, being on the inside of his wrist as they are, may not even get noticed by most people. And if that was done on purpose, which it probably was, it just goes to prove the idea that a tattoo is much more of a personal thing then it is about showing off.

The tattoos of stars can actually stand for anything good or positive in ones live so there really is no limit as to what they might mean to someone. The only way to really be sure is to ask the person who has it, what it means to them.
